ต้นแพงพวย (Madagascar periwinkle )

            แพงพวยนี้เป็นไม้ล้มลุก เจริญเติบโตได้ดีแตกกิ่งก้านสาขาได้อย่างมากมาย ใบสีเขียวเข้ม ลักษณะกลมรีขอบใบเรียบ ใบยาวประมาณ 2 นิ้ว และกว้างประมาณ 1 นิ้ว ออกดอกบริเวณยอดของต้น ดอกของแพงพวยจะมีสองสีคือแดงและขาว นิยมปลูกประดับไว้ตามสนามหญ้า ข้างทางเดินหรือข้างถนน การปลูกจะปลูกเป็นแถวหรือเป็นกลุ่ม

    -    ต้น มีอัลคาลอยด์ สำคัญคือ vinblastine และ vincristine ใช้เตรียมเป็นยาแผนปัจจุบันในรูปยาฉีด vincristine sulphate ใช้  บำบัดมะเร็งเม็ดเลือดในเด็ก และ vinblastine sulphate ใช้รักษาโรคมะเร็งต่อมน้ำเหลือง
