ลักษณะทั่วไป
เป็นไม้ยืนต้นขนาดใหญ่สูง 30 เมตร แตกกิ่งต่ำ เรือนยอดเป็นพุ่มแผ่กว้าง เปลือกสีน้ำตาลอ่อนหรือชมพูอมน้ำตาล กิ่งอ่อนมีขนคลุมบางๆ ใบเป็นใบประกอบแบบขนนกเรียงสลับ รูปไข่แกมขอบขนาน ก้านใบสั้น ปลายใบมนเว้าตื้นๆตรงกลาง ฐานใบมนหรือตัด ออกดอกเป็นช่อที่ปลายกิ่ง กลีบเลี้ยงสีเขียว 4 กลีบ กลีบดอกสีชมพู 1 กลีบ ออกดอกเดือนกุมภาพันธ์-มีนาคม ผลเป็นฝักแบน เปลือกแข็งและหนาขยายพันธุ์
